Calendula is easy to grow anywhere and spreads quickly. These are flowers that you will see growing in unusual places like between the cracks on the sidewalk or bridges. When I began soap-making in 1995 I wasn’t growing Calendula, however I was able to pick the flowers along the sidewalks in my James Bay Community!
If a plant is that flexible and spontaneous one can bet it will be beneficial for integrating into ones lifestyle. These flowers are resinous and well-known as a topical skin remedy for soothing rashes and wounds and is gentle enough to use in diaper rash creams and lotions. Did you know that it is also a powerful antioxidant and strong antiviral herb that fights candida symptoms? It is also great support for colds and flu’s.
Calendula has been added to creams and lotions for calming muscle cramps and soothing hemorrhoids. Drinking Calendula Tea eases menstrual cramping, supports the lymphatic system and moves congestion through the body.
