Lesser Celandine has small heart-shaped leaves, tubers and little bulb-lets.  All of these can be cooked and eaten like a vegetable either by boiling or frying.  The leaves should be picked prior to flowering.  When the plant begins to flower the leaves have a strong juice that can cause irritation and mouth sores.

Health and Wellbeing

In the past lesser Celandine was used by sailors to treat scurvy as it is high in Vitamin C.   It has also been used in ointment to treat piles, warts and corns.  All parts of this plant can be used including the flower petals for whitening teeth and infusing with  water as a skin toner.  Lesser Celandine has high astringent qualities.
