Native Flowers, Plants & Trees

by Renee Lindstrom, GCFP –Living in Natures Love Lifestyles @insideawareness.com

The listed varieties do not represent the complete list of shrubs and trees that grow in the Greater Victoria Region.  This list is one that represents shrubs and trees that have been grown, foraged, researched and integrated into the lifestyle of  this author.

The references to gardens in the Greater Victoria Area refer to 3 separate gardening experiences that integrated the natural world for healing and discovery.  Beginning in James Bay the focus was for healing a broken community, in Oak Bay broken relationships and now Oaklands for deepening  connection with natural ways.

This list can be used to identify flowers in your own garden that can be culinary and medicinal, used for cosmetics, infused oils and vinegar’s, tinctures, flower essences and plant dyes.  For the more romantic you may wish to consider the hidden language and meaning of flowers!  For enriching your environment one may wish to pay attention to placement using color and or symbology of the plant.
