The listed varieties do not represent the complete list of flowers that grow in the Greater Victoria Region. It is a list that represents flowers grown, foraged, researched and integrated into the lifestyle of this author. The references to Renee’s gardens in the Greater Victoria Area refer to 3 separate gardening experiences using intention and the natural world for healing and discovery. It began in Victoria, B.C., in James Bay with a focus of healing a broken community. A later move to Oak Bay with a shift in focus to broken relationships and then to Oaklands with a continuing focus of deepening connection with natural ways and how nature and humans contribute to each other. Each of the three intentions focused on different aspects of being in relationship with the plants such as colour, meaning, symbology and characteristics.
This list can be used to identify flowers in your own garden that can have culinary, medicinal, cosmetic uses. They can be creatively infused in oils, waters and vinegar’s and made into tinctures, flower essences and plant dyes.
