Loving the taste of celery juice as much as the benefits!

Celery Juice using 2 stalks – around 4 calories and 1 gram of carbs

After ignoring an inner voice nagging to add celery juice to my morning routine I have finally listened to it.  It became so incident I couldn’t walk through the veggie department and have clarity.  This demanding voice finally broke through my resistance and boy am I happy I did.  I discovered I love the taste of it.  Never a fan of eating it as a snack food or table veggie, now I  am shocked to find I love it.  It is easily added to juicing in the morning before juicing wheat grass so for me, there is no extra clean up.  I have noticed that my stomach feels satisfied after drinking it leaving me less hungry during the day.  An added bonus –  my skin feels like it is glowing after drinking it.  I am definitely smiling more too.

Celery hasn’t had much independent scientific study yet this veggie contains high doses of vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals that do have proven health benefits.  The true indicator is ones own experience while exploring this veggies for possible personal benefits.  These following ingredients are why I am celebrating celery juice as I would much rather consume my vitamins from living foods versus buying them in a plastic bottle.

    • aids in blood clotting and promotes bone health
  • vitamin C
    • fight inflammation, free radicals and infections

    • help protect against gout, heart disease and other disorders with an inflammatory component

  • vitamin E
    • protects the skin from free radicals, inflammation and UV-induced damage
  • beta-carotene
  • lutein
    • potent antioxidant, has anti-inflammatory properties and supports eye health
    • it may protect against cataracts, age-related macular degeneration and oxidative-based eye diseases
  • zeaxanthin
  • antioxidants; ferulic acid, p-coumaric acid and kaempferol
  • flavonoids, limonene, caffeic acid and alkaloids
    • may lower the risk of heart and liver diseases, prevent inflammation and boost antioxidant levels in the bloodstream
  • Apigenin
    • has been linked to a lower risk of cancer, arthritis and neurodegenerative diseases According to a December 2016 research paper featured in the International Journal of Food Properties, this flavonoid may protect against autoimmune disorders, liver toxicity, inflammation and cardiovascular problems.

I don’t think I would use an electric juicer or blender to juice celery.  I find my hand juicer does a fast and efficient job and it is also to clean.  I have integrated a morning routine of hand juicing that I may expand over the next few seasons to other time during the day.  We will see how time bends for me on this front.  Energy is going up by the day so that wouldn’t be the reason for not doing it.

I could not find a hand juicer locally at any kitchen or hardware store when I was searching for one so I will add a link to a wheat grass juicer that is similar to the one I am using and love.
